The Science and Technology has two wings under its Administrative Control viz J&K Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) and J&K Science, Technology & Innovation Council. (JKSTIC).
JAKEDA promotes the widespread adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy, including Hydropower, Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Biomass and Hydrogen Energy in the pursuit of sustainable development, energy access, energy security and low-carbon emission, economic growth and prosperity. The role of JAKEDA is to provide New and Renewable Energy sources for un-electrified villages/hamlets, so as to replace the existing conventional energy sources like fossil fuels. The Science Technology and Innovation Council (STIC) of Jammu and Kashmir aims to harness the potential of science and technology as an instrument of socio-economic change and ensure that efforts in science and technology percolate to the grassroots level. STIC strives to promote research and development in science and technology, and to create an environment conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship in the state. It also provides scholarships and other opportunities to students in the field of science and technology
